Abstract

This study aims to reveal the motives and obstacles to employing the technique of MOOCs, "massive Open Online courses" in teaching in faculties of education in Sudanese universities from the point of view of the faculty members. To achieve this, the researcher designed a questionnaire, consisting of (34) items, and after verifying its validity and reliability, it was distributed to a sample of (234) faculty members in the faculties of education in Sudanese universities, that was selected. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical method. By following the appropriate statistical methods, the data were analyzed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program. The study concluded that there are motives for employing MOOCs technique, " massive Open Online courses ", in teaching in faculties of education in Sudanese universities; The presence of obstacles that would prevent the use of MOOCs technique, massive Open Online courses in teaching, according to the result of the Chi-square test, which indicated that there is statistically significant differences for members of the sample of faculty members at a level of significance less than (0.05); There are no statistically significant differences between the average responses of the sample members towards the motives for employing MOOCs technique, " massive Open Online courses in teaching, due to the specialization variable. Based on these results, the researcher presented a number of recommendations
