Interactive E-book in Education: Systematic review

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the reality of applying the interactive e-book in education by providing a systematic review of the studies published during the period from 2018 to 2022 on the interactive e-book in education. It was reached to identify (12) studies in Arabic, and (7) studies in English. The search was limited to the following databases: Dar Al-Manzma, ERIC, and EBSCO. The results of the current research showed the effectiveness of using the interactive e-book in the educational process in public and university education. And the interest of previous studies in following tight standards for designing and producing an interactive e-book. The previous studies also provided an explanation of the concept of the interactive e-book and the most important interactive tools to be provided, as well as the tools and platforms used to produce the interactive e-book and their advantages. The current research also made a number of recommendations about the effectiveness of using the interactive e-book in education, such as the necessity of replacing the fixed e-books that are currently used in some general education courses with interactive e-books. He urged teachers and faculty members to use the interactive e-book. And the importance of providing training courses for teachers and faculty members to provide them with the skills of designing and producing an interactive e-book. And the adoption of standards for the design and production of the interactive e-book approved and judged in previous studies.
