The Effectiveness of Using Be Internet Awesome in Promoting the Values of Digital Citizenship Among First-Grade Middle School Students in Western Riyadh

Abstract

The objective of this study is to measure the effectiveness of using Be Internet Awesome website in enhancing the values of digital citizenship among first-grade middle school students in the western city of Riyadh. The researcher has adopted mixed method research design. When it comes to the study sampling, it consists of 110 female students. The questionnaire is utilized for collecting quantitative data and the interview is adopted for collecting qualitative data in order to derive more accurate results. Twelve female students participated in the interviews, who were selected randomly. The study concludes that the level of female students' awareness of the values of digital citizenship and of Be Internet Awesome website is very high, and that the level of using Be Internet Awesome website achieves a high effect on the average of the first graders. In addition, there are statistically significant differences at the significance level (α≤ 0.05) between the average responses of the study sample participants regarding the level of female students’ awareness of Be Internet Awesome websites due to the variable of the age. Furthermore, the results also indicate that there are significant differences at (α ≤ 0.05) among the means of the answers of the study sample participants concerning the level of awareness of the female students of Be Internet Awesome website which is due to the variable of the daily use of the Internet. The study recommends using Be Internet Awesome website in the educational process and it is great importance.
