Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using pedagogical agent characters (semi-human- cartoon- robotic) in an e-learning environment to develop higher-order thinking skills in the vocational skills subject among fourth-grade primary students. The research sample consisted of (90) male and female students from the fourth grade at Al-Shaheed Gamal El-Din Elsafty Primary School in Port Said Governorate. The research experiment was applied during the second semester of the academic year 2023/2024. The sample was divided into three equal experimental groups according to the research variables. After applying the main experiment and statistically analyzing the data, the results revealed statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) between the mean scores of the three experimental groups in the post-achievement test and the post-test of higher-order thinking skills, in favor of the first experimental group (which studied in the e-learning environment using the "semi-human" pedagogical agent character). The results of the second experimental group (which studied in the e-learning environment using the "cartoon" pedagogical agent character) and the third experimental group (which studied in the e-learning environment using the "robotic" pedagogical agent character) were close in both the achievement test and the higher-order thinking skills test. Based on these results, recommendations and research proposals were presented.
