Abstract

The Scenario of Arabic language curriculum in Brunei at 4IR

Abstract

The Arabic language curriculum of Arabic schools in Brunei Darussalam prepares students to study Arabic language and Islamic studies for university, therefore, Arabic schools have integrated some of the Al-Azhar Arabic language curriculum into their curriculum, so that its students can pursue university studies in Al-Azhar university. This study aims to identify the importance of e-learning in the Arabic language curriculum for non-native speakers from the perspective of teachers in Arabic schools. To achieve this, the study described here uses a descriptive approach, distributing a questionnaire among teachers (72%). Note that most teachers have been studying in the Arabic school beforehand, hence they are able to understand the research problem. This study found that a large percentage of teachers (47.37%) see a lack of suitability of the traditional course for students and (77.63%) of teachers see a lack of adoption of electronic programs in the traditional curriculum in Brunei, and support the need and preparation of electronic education. Although teachers will need to attend courses that train them to use e-learning, the findings indicate that teachers are keen to use e-learning when teaching. In conclusion, this study recommends training Arabic language teachers to use e-learning in order to improve levels of communication in Arabic and raise student attainment. And the Arabic language curriculum needs to review by using e-learning tools and materials in the classroom and outside the classroom.
